Rising From the Ashes

In order to continue our mission of service to this amazing community, Project Yoga Richmond has become dormant in order to heal itself, grow, and begin a process of change.

When you last saw us, it was in October 2022 at the VMFA - it was a beautiful day and the news had broken that PYR was shutting down operations. But that was only the beginning of the story, not the end. And if you have been paying close attention, you know that we haven’t gone anywhere.

From the very start, Project Yoga Richmond was an organization comprised of people who love yoga, who love connection, and those who wish to live in right relationship with each other to bring more healing into this world. Ever since PYR temporarily shut down it’s operations, we have been working together with a great team of individuals to re-imagine an organization dedicated to creating more self-awareness, more compassion, and more mindfulness throughout Richmond and beyond. Our dream is that as a community we start to act more collectively with each other to further the original mission of Project Yoga Richmond.

You should know that PYR is rising from the ashes in 2024. In order to implement the necessary changes, we need your support. This community has always been the backbone of this organization, and we can only continue to serve by coming together.

Here’s how you can help:

1. Donate! It is your donations that allow PYR to do its work. The donation button is live on our homepage and we need your contribution.

2. Spread the word! Let folks know that PYR is alive and well. We are simply in our chrysalis form.

3. Participate! We are working hard to curate new community events, as well as rekindle a few old ones. We want to see you there. To stay updated on events, make sure to follow us on Instagram.

4. Talk to me! We’re inviting dialogue. Tell us what you loved about the way things were and how we might create more mindfulness and compassion going forward.

With the intent being to create more mindful collaborative efforts among the great organizations in our city, I know that we can continue what we’ve started, and do even more in the future.

From my heart to your heart,

J Miles, co-founder of Project Yoga Richmond
